I am in my mid 20s and I have been playing video games for 20 years now. I have absolute no knowledge of the challenges faced in implementing something like this so maybe I'm being unrealistic in asking for it but I'm super interested in hearing other peoples thoughts on this. I dont know - I'm sure i can't be alone in thinking this but i feel like if more games implemented this recap mechanic then i'd finish things more often!Īs an aside - I'm no game developer.
I kind of liken it to if you tried jumping back into a series after a month out but generally a series will give you a recap at the start of the episode.which is what Witcher 3 did! That little cutscene when you first load in that gave me a small recap of the main story so far gave me enough of a reminder that it pushed me back into the games vibe and flow. On reflection i've found it's come down to the fact that life may get in the way or i don't feel like gaming for a couple of weeks by which time I'm out of that games space - i've kind of forgotten what's going on and the thought of jumping back into the middle of the game when I'm not too sure what the situation is/may have forgotten some of the mechanics or controls is pretty off putting.
I've tried them all - really enjoyed them but never finished any of them. Red Dead, BoTw, Persona 5, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon. I love open world RPG's, they've been my bread and butter for years but as i've gotten older and busier (i'm 30) i never finish them anymore.
